Grey Area: Chipping vs Extended Warranties

I would like to have some ideas on this. I have a volkswagen passat wagon 1.8l chipped. It has an extended warranty on the car that covers almost everything bumper to bumper. Especially electronics related. I am about to go in to service to track down a fault which may be the N75 valve or The DV (what ever that is). If this car were stock, I would be covered. However because the car is chipped, do you think this would be grounds for denial? Last thing I want is to give the insurance company an excuse to cancel my policy since I have already gotten my money back in dealing with this car. If I were to submit a claim, could chipping the car be used as an excuse to deny payment because it was the chipping that blew up the devices in the first place? I dont know how much a new DV cost but I would like to have them pay the bill if I can. I welcome your thoughts on this subject. Elliot:D

hello,

since the car behaves neutraly at diagnostic works, it does not matter if you go stock or tuned. generally to be on the secure side, it is better to put in the stock chip, if it makes no big trouble. you have to imagine that the guy who works on your car not really cares about if your car is chipped or not...but of course...you can never know..there is for sure a risk....

Search online for magnusson moss warranty act. That should answer most of your questions. Also a new DV the 710N with 14 lb spring is only like $40.

Denial on a claim for just a DV is possible when you are chipped most tuners recommend going to the oem look 710N valve for $40 or an after market one for about $150.
