Tech Term Definitions

Hey! I am fairly new to the "tuning scene" and would appreciate it if I someone would define a few of the terms that are floating around on the boards.
MAF and OEM.
I am inclined to think that MAF is an acronym for Mass Air Fuel. I don't have a clue concerning OEM.

MAF = Mass Air Flow (Sensor)
It's a sensor (The MAF sensor) which is located near to the airfilterbox. It measures the amount of air 'sucked' into the engine. It's a 'fragile' sensor, which does 'die' frequently.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
indicates a stock part, used by the manufactuer, fe. the stock chip is the OEM Version, or the OEM Exhaust...
DV = Diverter Valve
Used at the 1.8Ts to release the boost pressure after releasing the throttle. The OEM part is some kind of weak, and a Forge DV is recommended. Forge DV is an aftermarked DV made out of Aluminium and is much more stable than the stock plastic part.
hope this helps ...

OBD (II) = On Board diagnostig System
The car has an Connector where a Diagnostig System can be attached to. So the different Control units of a car can be checked for errors. Also adaptation can be done, like changing the central lock system, or log data from the ECU.
ECU = Engine control unit
Management of the Engine, that's what at chiptuning is changed :D
VAG-COM = Tool to communicate with the OBD System
Error codes from the ECU and other Control units can be read, erased, and adaptations and measurements can be done. VAG-Com is an aftermarked Product which is a software running on an computer (notebook) and is connected with an adapter to the car. More infos at http://www.ross-tech.com
